Poems in the Manner of Hart Crane
FIRE DANCE
Flickering fire dances on the walls
Reminiscing memories long forgotten.
Shining light into the dark crevices
Of the mind’s battered state.
The feelings all encompassing from love and hate and hurt,
Too much
Were the words spoken that caused
The head and the heart to curse.
Shouting and pleading with emotion
For the clouds to wash away the sparks.
Breathing in slowly, the smoke
Creates tears and fragility
No, I don’t love you anymore
Though, I miss you sometimes
Seems irrelevant when speaking out loud.
“Who dare try to cure the
Walking cancer
That has no strength?
Not in the way it seems it should.”
The shadows take over the wall
Fighting on embers to stay awake
It’ll be dark again soon
Then the memories can fade.
